Guidelines
CONTENT
Your weblog should contain the struggles that modern women face when they juggle their roles as a working mother. Gather the information on the following areas:
- What is meant by the term “supermom”?
- What are some activities that supermoms are typically involved in?
- Describe the key qualities or characteristics of supermoms.
- What are the common struggles of supermoms?
You can visit the websites we have provided for research.
With the information gathered, create a web page (in the form of a blog) of minimum 3 pages, expounding on the working mothers of today. These 3 pages do not including the transcript, write-up of the team members or pages of just photos or graphics.
FORMAT
Refer to the recent comprehension exercise entitled “She, The Juggler.” Observe the style of the entire article. It is written in the format of an Information Report. For your weblog, use the format of an Information Report.
- Create interesting Titles
- Position appropriate subheadings to lead your reader through the entire blog
- Use direct quotes
- Use present tenses
- Start each paragraph with a topic sentence which previews what the paragraph is elaborating
- Give a conclusion to the entire article or blog
DESIGN HINTS
- Select font and background colour to ensure your blog is easy to read
- Acknowledge all sources of information and graphics
- Include photos of your interviewees, supermoms at work and play, your team at work but do not overload the blog
- Include drawings, cartoons, poems and sayings when appropriate but ensure you check the copyrights of such items
- Do not spend too much time on sound, graphics and video files
INTERVIEWS
- Interview two women who are working mother. Interviewees need not be your mother unless your topic requires you to do so.
- Draw up your questions before meeting your interviewees
- Enquire about their roles as working adults and mothers
- What motivates them and keeps them going?
- What are their struggles and concerns?
- What are their most recent experiences – good or bad?
TRANSCRIPT
Each group must include transcripts of their interviews on the blog. A transcript looks something like this:
Jane: Aunty Ann, what are some of your struggles you face as a working mom?
Aunt Ann: Oh there are many struggles. The first on my mind would be time management….
Jane: Can you give me a recent example?
Aunt Ann: Recently I had to go to Beijing for a conference and it clashed with my son’s piano recital…..
TEAM WRITE-UP
